Mid-Week Coffee Break #3

Well, it’s Wednesday again, Hope you have had a great week so far.  Today’s coffee break pic is a great shot of Kira.  She has been learning from older cousins all about sports, and here she is trying to shoot a basket.  She’s pretty good for only 2.

So there you have it.  5 great apple ideas.  What is your favorite way to eat apples???

Trying Thursdays:

Welcome Thursday!!!  Soon it will be the weekend, YAY!!!  I’m starting to take time off on the weekends for family, and I’m extremely happy with that decision, so even though I’m mom 24/7, I still get to take time off of everything else.

Ok, so onto our Trying Thursday.  First of all, I would like to say we are remaining tantrum (for the most part) free, however, we have hit a new wall.  I don’t remember life when I was The Toddler’s age, however, I have been told I listened fairly well, my Toddler has this issue with defiance.  Telling her to do anything in general lately results in her pushing as far as she can to NOT do said request.  She has been seeing a lot of her room, which is her “time-out” spot.  I’m hoping she outgrows this, PLEASE let her outgrow this.  What tactics have you used to help with defiance??? Suggestions, please???

So now on to the review.  I have been looking for healthier alternatives to household cleaners, personal care products, and such.  So often, the things we think our fine for our homes and family are NOT.  I used to use all the major brands, and while we are still converting I am working toward making better, healthier choices for our family.  So, where do you turn when you are just starting down that road of looking for healthier products, to the internet of course.  I would like to introduce you to a great company I have just recently started shopping at.  The Healthy Home Company, is an amazing company.  I am still in the process of ordering some of their products (I’ll be doing more reviews as well), However, I was given a product to try out called the Perfect Touch Sanitizer

I am in AWE of this product.  It is a hand AND house sanitizer with no need to rinse.  This makes sanitizing a breeze for a busy mom of 2, trust me.   I started out by using it to clean The Toddler’s high chair try, and it works AMAZINGLY well.  I use it between meals and times I throw the tray in the dishwasher.  I wanted to go a step further though.  I was interested in seeing how well it could “clean” surfaces.  I typically put The Toddler in her high chair to color, and she routinely colors on about 4-5 sheets of paper for about 30 secs each and then throws them on the floor, and if I am not giving her my undivided attention this is what happens

So, I decided to try spraying some sanitizer on it and wiping it off and check out the results.

Now, please understand, these are WASHABLE crayons, and so, water could technically take off the crayon with a little extra scrubbing, how ever all I did was wipe clean.  So much easier and faster than scrubbing.  I am hooked.  I now use it on my hands, and on The Toddlers hands before she eats.  She LOVES getting to use it, and I love the fact that it is killing germs and making our home a safer place.

Mid-Week Coffee Break #2

Mid-Week Coffee Break #2

It has been a crazy summer, so in this coffee break, I wanted to share a random fun moment Brianna had.  We got a Jump-o-lene for Kira, and while she did use it a few times, it was Brianna that seemed to have the most fun.  Here she is playing in it with pillows and blankets.

Top 5 Tuesdays: Meal Planning Tips

Top 5 Tuesdays: Meal Planning Tips

I’m not the greatest meal planner, but I try.  It helps to keep the cost of groceries down, as well as keeping me sane.  Here are my top 5 tips for meal planning.

  1. Know your family, and plan accordingly.  In other words, plan meals they will enjoy
  2. Plan at least 2 weeks out, and shop the sales for those 2 weeks.  This cuts down the cost of groceries if you can catch stuff on sale
  3. Prep within 24 hours of buying groceries.  I find if things are prepped and ready to go, it is a lot less tempting to eat out or order in.
  4. Don’t forget to add in: drinks, snacks, and sides.  This is something I still struggle with, and it sometimes makes our groceries not stretch as far.
  5. Have fun.  Try new recipes at least once a week, just make sure you are still feeding your family stuff they like.

Those are my top 5 meal planning tips.  Do you “meal plan”??? What tips help you???

Mid-Week Coffee Break

Mid-Week Coffee Break

Welcome to the Mid-week coffee break.  Just a cute/funny pic and short story about the kiddos.  Think of it like a “Wordless Wednesday” except, I’m never wordless :)

So, for this weeks I’m posting a pic of Miss Kira’s birthday.  She didn’t look very happy, and quite honestly, I think she was “birthdayed-out” by this time.  Still super cute though.

Top 5 Tuesdays: Reasons I Love September

Top 5 Tuesdays: Reasons I Love September

Welcome to September!!!  I’m incredibly excited for this fall.  Fall is my favorite season, and I can’t wait to enjoy it with my family this year.  So, let’s get right into this, my top 5 reasons I LOVE September.

  1. It is the start of fall.  I love fall, I love the cooler weather, and the crisp air, the pretty leaves on the trees, and apple and pumpkin EVERYTHING.
  2. I love that the kids go back to school.  Granted, MY kiddos don’t go to school yet, but life is so much easier (going to the park, or any kids place) when the “bigger kids” aren’t there to trample my kiddos.
  3. I love that my kiddos DON’T go to school yet.  No getting up early, and I’m still able to enjoy the kiddos being little and have fun with them, whenever.
  4. I know I mentioned it in number 1, but, seriously this deserves to be mentioned a 2nd time.  I love, love, love apple season.  Homemade applesauce, apple crisp, carmel apples… YUM
  5. I love the fall festivals.  Summer fairs and festivals are nice, but it is far too hot to really enjoy them.  Fall festivals are so much more enjoyable.

So there you have it, my Top 5 reasons I love September, what do you love about September???

I’m Baaaaack!!!!!

I’m Baaaaack!!!!!

Welcome September!!!  It has been a long crazy summer with lots going on.  I was only planning to take a week off, then it turned into 1 month, which then turned into 2… BUT, I’m BAAAAACK now.  I’m excited to jump in and get this blog started again.

So, let’s see, where did we leave off???  Oh, yeah, right before 4th of July.  I have so many stories and tips I’ve been working on to share with you all.  I am going to change things up just a bit though, so let me give ya the break down of  my posts.

Makin’ it Happen Mondays, Top 5 Tuesdays, Mid-week Coffee Break (Wednesday) are going to stay the same.  Then, Thursdays are going to be “Thing That Work For Me Thursdays”.  Which will have tips and trick that don’t really require “making” something, and Family Friendly Fridays which will have ideas for fun family nights.

So, there you have it, the break down for the next 4 months.

Now that you have the break down, I’m gonna give ya just a little update (details will be in posts throughout the next month). First off, after much careful consideration I have decided to officially use the girls’ names on the blog.  I haven’t been doing so, as I wasn’t sure privacy-wise what would be better, however, pictures are less private than names (in my opinion, anyway).  So I’d like to formally introduce you to our family:

First is Brianna.  The cutest little Mickey Mouse Club Member ;)

This is Kira, or as you all have come to know her, The Toddler.

2014-08-17 16.16.111

So now that you know the kiddos, it’s time to talk about this summer.  Kira turned 2, so we have had her party, numerous cookouts and get togethers with family, as well as dealing with some difficult family issues, I won’t go into detail here, there will be posts throughout the month with details for sure.

So, we had a great (active) summer.  How did YOU spend your summer???

Makin’ It Happen Mondays: Busy Bags

Makin’ It Happen Mondays: Busy Bags

Welcome to another Makin’ it happen Monday. This week’s project is 1 of many. I recently participated in a “Busy Bag” Swap. For those of you

Younger lasix water pill it dollars have from.

who are new to this idea, basically a “Busy Bag” is a project that is self-contained and/or contained in a small bag, it requires just the contents of the bag to play, and usually it is an educational tool as well.

Our first round in our group there were 6 kids and so each of us chose 1 project and made 6 of that same project. Once all projects were done everyone got 1 of each project for their kiddos. Think cookie exchange. There are all different kinds of projects for busy bags, and for all different ages as well.

I made a memory game out of foam for the first round. I used some precut and drew (horribly) and cut out some shapes and glued them onto foam squares. It was really pretty easy, and for only about an hours worth of work, it didn’t turn out too awful bad.

This round I made a mosaic of sorts with geometric shapes that the kiddos can interchange to make pictures. Think tangram puzzles out of paper. Easy, because basically I am just photocopying a few geometric pics and then cutting out shapes in different colors that will fit the pics.

These are just a couple of the projects for busy bags. What ideas do you like to help entertain your kids.

Top 5 Tuesdays: Reasons I Love Living in the USA

Top 5 Tuesdays: Reasons I Love Living in the USA

Those of you who are from the USA know that Friday is Independence Day.  In honor of this wonderful holiday when we celebrate our Freedom, I am doing my “Top 5 Reasons I Love Living in the USA”  So here we go:

  1. I love living in a place where , I, a female, a mother, am allowed to have my own opinion.  There are many countries where females are not allowed to have or act upon their own opinion, I’m thankful I can.
  2. I am thankful that I live in a country that values education.  Education is a MUST to get anywhere in life, and I am thankful we embrace it.
  3. I am thankful for the Military that protects our freedom.
  4. I Love living in a country that allows us to vote for our leaders.
  5. I Love living in a country with so many open minded people and so many different views.  It really keeps things interesting.

Happy Independence Day!!!
